Tigers Open SCAC Action in Texas This Weekend

The Colorado College volleyball team opens conference play this weekend with a pair of matches in Texas. The Tigers will face SCAC foes Texas Lutheran on Friday, Sept. 19, in Seguin at 3 p.m. CT, then Concordia University on Saturday, Sept. 20, in Austin beginning at noon CT.

Last Time Out
CC went 2-1 last weekend at the Carthage Invite in Kenosha, Wis. The Tigers easily won their first match, 3-0, over Concordia (Wis.), then posted a thrilling, five-set victory over 13th-ranked UW Platteville, before falling to Carthage, 3-0.

With the victory over #13 UW-Platteville, CC defeated its highest-ranked opponent since downing No. 11 Transylvania in the 2024 Pikes Peak Challenge.

After dropping the first set, 25-18, the Tigers captured the next two sets, 25-16, 25-22. In the fourth set, the Tigers won three straight points late in the set to cut a deficit from 24-20 to 24-23, but a service error gave UW-Platteville the set.

In the deciding fifth set, CC jumped out to an 11-7 lead, but the Pioneers rallied to tie it up at 13-all. Camille Sherrill closed out the match with a pair of kills.

In Saturday's opener vs. UW-Platteville, Camille Sherrill collected a career-high 29 kills and posted a .318 hitting percentage in leading the Tigers to their fifth straight win. Her 29 kills ties for No. 8 on CC's career list for most in one match and are the most in a match by a Tiger since Abbe Holtze had 29 vs. Colorado Christian on Nov. 4, 2014.

SCAC Weekly Awards
Juniors Camille Sherrill and Annie Joo were named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player and Setter of the Week, respectively, for matches played last weekend.

Sherrill, from Missoula, Mont., led the Tigers with 52 kills, including a career-high 29 in the  five-set win over #13 UW-Platteville. Her 29 kills ties for No. 5 on the SCAC all-time list for most in a single match. Sherrill hit .318 vs. the Pioneers and added 30 digs, eight blocks and a pair of service aces during the weekend.

Joo, from San Jose, Calif., paced CC with 57 assists, including a career-high 32 in the win over #13 UW-Platteville. She posted 20 assists in the three-set sweep over Concordia (Wis.) and averaged 5.18 assists per set over the weekend.

Scouting The Opposition
Texas Lutheran enters the weekend with a 3-6 record after posting a 1-2 record at the Mount Berry Tournament last weekend. The Bulldogs defeated LaGrange, 3-0, after losing to #6 Emory, 3-0, and Berry College, 3-1.

Concordia, meanwhile, is 5-3 after going 1-3 at the East Texas Baptist Tournament last weekend. The Tornados defeated Belhaven, but last to UMHB, Carroll University and 14th-ranked ETBU.
