Three goals from the Colorado College men's soccer team and a shutout performance from junior goalkeeper
Alex Wolter lifted the Tigers over the University of the Ozarks 3-0 on Friday night.
Wolter made a season-high five saves, including some acrobatic plays to hold his fifth shutout of the season. He already matched his season total and career-high of five shutouts from last year.
Sophomore
Teddy Opler, freshman
Ewen Robertson and junior
Dylan Rich all scored as CC improved to 4-0-3 on the year.
The Tigers kept their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season win streak alive, notching 29 straight conference wins dating back to Oct. 31, 2023.
Opler opened the scoring in the eighth minute after a beautiful cross from senior captain Rex Karijian. Opler found himself lifted high above the defense in the box and headed in his fourth goal of the season.
CC outshot Ozarks 11-2 in the first half. The Tigers were down to 10 men after a red card in the 19th minute, but continued to produce chances on offense and fight off numerous Ozarks attacks.
In the second half,
Ewen Robertson created the opportunity for his sixth goal of the year after Opler rifled a pass in between two Eagles' defenders. Robertson made the keeper miss and found the back of the net after the shifty diversion.
Robertson has scored in every game except one this season and leads the conference in goals. Opler recorded his first assist of the game and his fifth point of the year, which is second on the team.
In the 68th minute, Rich sealed the game with his first goal of the season and the fifth of his career after sophomore
Will Jones had a shot blocked that bounced perfectly to Rich to create the scoring chance.
It's Jones' first career assist as he finished with a shot and 28 minutes played.
Robertson, Opner and junior
Jack Hilliard led the team with four shots each. All four of Opler's looks were on net, which led the team.
CC finished the game outshooting Ozarks 18-10 (9-6 SOG). The Tigers will close out the SCAC opening weekend against a new conference foe, Hendrix College, at noon on Sunday at Stewart Field
