Tigers Fall To Eagles In Clarksville

Colorado College dropped an 85–72 decision at the University of the Ozarks on Saturday afternoon in Clarksville, Ark., despite a career-high scoring performance from freshman Ryan Krantz.

Krantz poured in a career-best 22 points on 8-of-15 shooting and went a career-high 6-for-13 from three-point range to lead CC, which led briefly in the first half and was tied five times before Ozarks pulled away after the break. The Tigers shot 42.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, while the Eagles finished at 47.2 percent overall and knocked down 13 three-pointers.

The first half was tightly contested, with CC holding a 34–33 edge at the break after Krantz connected on five triples and scored 15 points in the opening 20 minutes. The Tigers built a three-point lead early in the second half, but Ozarks responded with an 8–0 run to seize momentum and never trailed again.

Ozarks stretched the margin to double digits midway through the half behind hot shooting and second-chance opportunities, pushing the lead to as many as 16. CC continued to battle inside, outscoring the Eagles 30–24 in the paint and getting 12 second-chance points, but the hosts went 22-for-26 at the free-throw line and shot 56.0 percent in the second half to create separation.

Senior Asher Nofziger added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Tigers, while freshman Terrion Benson chipped in nine points. Senior Orion Samikoglu scored nine off the bench and finished with five rebounds, and freshman Kyle Kihlberg contributed six points and two boards in limited minutes.

Dylan Archey led Ozarks with 30 points, while Vanya Nikolic posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

CC fell to 5–10 overall and 3–3 in conference play, while Ozarks improved to 3–14 on the season and 2–4 in league action.

The Tigers are back at Reid Arena next Friday, Jan. 23 to host McMurry University.
