Kaidan Mbereko and sophomore
Owen Beckner are among 87 student-athletes nominated for the 2026 Hobey Baker Award, according to the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Foundation.
The Hobey Baker Award is presented annually to the collegiate hockey player who best demonstrates strength of character both on and off the ice, contributes to the integrity of his team and displays outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration is given for scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.
Mbereko, a goaltender from Aspen, Colo., is sixth in the NCHC with nine victories. A first-team All-American in 2024, he has been nominated for the Hobey Baker Award each of the last three seasons. Mbereko has a 2.57 goals-against average and .910 save percentage this season.
Beckner, a forward from Victoria, B.C., leads the Tigers with 16 points and 10 assists. He is ted for the team lead with two power-play goals and a +7 rating.
Colorado College has had two winners since the first Hobey Baker was awarded in 1981, Peter Sejna (2003) and Marty Sertich (2005).
The first round of fan voting has begun and takes into account a percentage of the total ballot. The award will be announced on April 10 during the NCAA Frozen Four in Las Vegas, Nev.
