CC Posts Third-Best Finish Ever in Fall Learfield Director’s Cup

Tigers in Second Place in SCAC President's Cup Standings

After another very strong fall season in which all four Division III teams earned a conference title, Colorado College sits in 41st place in the final Fall 2025 Learfield Directors' Cup Standings, the school's third-best fall campaign since Division III standings began in 1995.

Of the 431 schools competing under the NCAA Division III banner, 179 of those schools registered points in the final Directors' Cup standings for the 2024 fall season. Colorado College collected 124 points, placing in the top 10 percent among all Division III schools.

During the fall of 2025, the Tigers had three teams participate in their respective NCAA National Championships and all four (men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer and volleyball) won either a regular-season or tournament conference title.

Since jumping to #30 in the fall of 2023, Colorado College has solidified itself as a perennial top 10% Division III program over the last three years, finishing 36th in the fall of 2024 and 41st this past fall. The Tigers also had the best mark of all teams in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Texas Lutheran is second at No. 98.

Beginning in 1993, the Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Throughout the course of the year, points are awarded based on a school's finish in up to 18 sports - nine men and nine women - in NCAA Championships.

"Our goals at Colorado College are to chase championships and build broad-based excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community," Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine said. "The collective athletic achievements of our fall sports were once again outstanding. For every Division III program to win a conference championship and for us to place first as SCAC members in the national standings is something we are very proud of."

Both cross country teams, led by SCAC Coach of the Year Alex Nichols, advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships, the women for the fifth straight season and the men for the second time since 2011. Both squads finished in the top 25 and combined for 99 points. Alison Mueller-Hickler and Charlie Flint from the women's team and Will Shuflit for the men's team were named All-Americans.

Head coach Sharon Dingman and the volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Division III Championships after posting three upsets en route to the SCAC Tournament title. The Tigers collected 25 points in the standings after falling to Salisbury in the first round.

In addition, the Tigers are in second place in the SCAC President's Cup combined standings and in each of the men's and women's standings following the fall season. TLU sits in first place.
