Colorado College successfully defended home turf for the first time this season with an emphatic win on Saturday afternoon, rolling past Adams State, 21-10.
The Tigers (2-1) seized control immediately and never looked back, scoring eight goals in the opening quarter and building a commanding 14-2 halftime lead. CC finished with a 55-36 advantage in shots, won 25 of 33 faceoffs, and collected 45 ground balls to control possession throughout.
Junior Nick Johnson led the attack with a six-point outing on three goals and three assists while adding two ground balls. Junior Aidan Niklaus recorded three points on two goals and an assist, and freshman Elliot Muska turned in an impressive collegiate debut with a three-point performance on two goals and an assist.
Several Tigers recorded career-first scoring moments. Freshman Jake Andreski scored his first two collegiate goals and added an assist in his debut, while freshman Will Honey also netted his first two career goals. Freshman Bryce Ferguson recorded his first collegiate goal during CC's early scoring surge.
The Tigers showcased offensive depth throughout the contest, with 14 different players recording goals. Senior Luke Smith added two scores, while junior Wyatt Furda, freshman Lucas Obringer, senior Charlie Faldi, sophomore Liam Goodwin, sophomore Matthew Collina, sophomore Brooks Power, and junior Trevor Flynn each contributed to the balanced attack.
CC's dominance began at the faceoff stripe, where senior Trevor Mackles went 7-for-9 to spark transition opportunities. The Tigers also executed a perfect clearing performance, successfully converting all 17 attempts.
Defensively, CC forced 20 turnovers and held Adams State to just two goals in the first half. Senior Robert Spence earned the win in goal, making three saves as multiple goalkeepers saw action.
Adams State scored five times in the fourth quarter, but CC maintained a comfortable double-digit margin to close out the victory. CC is back in action on Tuesday, March 3 when it hosts John Carroll at Washburn Field.Â
