Last Time Out
The Tigers tied and lost to No. 4 Western Michigan last weekend at Ed Robson Arena ... On Friday,
Mats Lindgren scored and
Kaidan Mbereko had 27 saves in a 1-1 tie. The Broncos' William Whitelaw notched the only goal in the shootout to give WMU the extra point in the NCHC standings. Lindgren opened the scoring at the 13:26 mark of the first period, then Sam Huck evened the score for Western Michigan just 1:56 into the second period. That was it for the scoring as the two goaltenders were outstanding the rest of the way, with each of them making some incredible saves and helping their teams kill off seven total power plays, four for CC and three for WMU ... On Saturday, Hunter Slukynsky had 28 saves, while Grant Slukynsky and
Zaccharya Wisdom each had a goal and an assist in a 2-0 WMU victory. Mbereko made 24 saves for the Tigers in his final appearance at Robson Arena. Wisdom opened the scoring for WMU at the 9:21 mark of the first period. It looked like the Tigers tied the game with a few seconds remaining in the second period, but
Ryan Alexander was called for interference just before Lindgren scored on a rocket from the right point that would have beaten the clock at the end of the period. Instead of a tie game, WMU had a power play for 1:59 to begin the third period. The Tigers killed the penalty, but Western Michigan took a 2-0 lead at the 4:18 mark of the final frame when Grant Slukynsky beat Mbereko from the left circle.

Four teams, North Dakota, Western Michigan, Denver and Minnesota Duluth, have clinched home ice for the first round of the NCHC playoffs. Minnesota Duluth is the only team locked in a final spot at No. 4. Colorado College can finish anywhere from fifth to ninth in the standings. If the Tigers earn two or three points on Friday at UMD, or if Denver or Miami wins in regulation, they secure a spot in the top eight and will advance to the first-round of the NCHC playoffs, March 6-8.
