Rieger Lorenz and Sam Harris each had a goal and an assist to lead No. 8 Denver to a 4-1 victory over Colorado College Saturday night at Magness Arena.

Fisher Scott scored CC's lone goal and Kaiden Mbereko made 34 saves for the Tigers, who fell to 11-13-4 overall and 5-9-4 in the NCHC.

Denver (17-11-3, 13-6-1 NCHC) jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals 1:44 apart in the first period. Mbereko saved a shot by Cale Ashcroft, but the rebound came to Harris at the right circle, who sent a cross-ice pass to Kristian Epperson, who had an open net from the left circle at the 12:29 mark.

Garrett Brown made it 2-0 at the 14:13 mark with an unassisted goal. Following another save by Mbereko, the puck squirted out from the crease and Brown was there at the right circle to fire a one-timer past Mbereko.

Scott narrowed the gap to 2-1 with just 30 seconds remaining in the opening frame. He took a drop pass from
Gavin Lindberg and beat Denver goalie Johnny Hicks (17 saves) from the high slot for his second goal of the season. Lindberg collected his 12
th assist this year, while
Tomas Mrsic notched his fifth.

Lorenz put the Pioneers back up by two at the 5:11 mark of the second period. He took a pass from James Reeder from the right boards and himself on-on-one with Mbereko down the slot. Lorenz went from his backhand to forehand and scored from the left post.

Philippe Blais-Savoie was issued a five-minute major for spearing and a game misconduct at the end of the second period, and the Pioneers took advantage as Harris scored on a one-timer from the right circle just 50 seconds into the period to make it 4-1.

Denver put 39 shots on goal, compared to a season-low 18 for the Tigers. DU was 1-for-5 on the power play, while CC was 0-for-2.

The Tigers return to action next weekend with a series at St. Cloud State, Feb. 13-14, at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
