The No. 36 Colorado College women's tennis team defeated a nationally-ranked team for the second time in three matches with a 4-3 victory over 31^st-ranked Cal Tech Thursday evening in Pasadena, Calif.  
 
The Tigers won the top two doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead. Lindsay Popeo and Avery Hickman dropped a 6-2 decision to Hannah Ramsperger and Naya Kessman at the No. 3 spot, but CC captured the other two in exciting fashion. Aspen Young and Lucia Moravek won the No. 1 match, 7-5, over Polaris Hayes and Carissa Gerung, then Kala Komanduri and Ally Lowe pulled out the No. 2 match with a 7-6(6) win over Aoi Kunimoto and Anna Szczuka.              
 
That momentum carried over to the singles matches as CC won three of the six to take the team match. Hickman lost at the No. 4 spot, but Moravek downed Katelyn Waugh, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 5 for a 2-1 lead. Popeo lost a tough three-setter at No. 6 and the match was even at 2-2
 
Komanduri put the Tigers in the lead for good with a 6-0, 7-6(3) victory over Hayes at No. 3, then Lowe clinched the team match with a hard-fought, 6-7, 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Szczuka at the No. 2 spot.
 
Young dropped a three-hour plus match at the top spot, 7-6(2), 4-6, 7-6(3) to Gerung to wrap up the match.
 
The Tigers (8-3) return to action on Friday, March 20, against Occidental in Los Angeles, Calif., beginning at 3 p.m. (PT).
