No. 22 Tigers Fall To No. 3 Tufts

CC fell to No. 3 Tufts, 20-1, on Sunday afternoon in Medford, Mass.

Tufts controlled the game from the opening draw, scoring eight goals in the first quarter to take early command and maintaining that advantage throughout.

Senior Grace Bean accounted for the Tigers' lone goal, finishing in the second quarter off an assist from freshman Maddie Jenks.

Offensively, junior Sofia Mancino and junior Charlotte Iler led CC with three shots apiece, while Bean placed two shots on goal and converted the Tigers' only score.

Defensively, freshman Sophie Mineroff and junior Frances Hansot each recorded two ground balls to pace the Tigers, while freshman Lydia Desrochers caused a career-high three turnovers. Hansot and senior Amanda Roan each caused two turnovers as CC totaled nine on the defensive end.

In goal, senior Cassidy Schnaufer made six saves while facing 32 shots.

CC finished with 12 shots (seven on goal) and 14 ground balls, but Tufts held advantages in shots (32-12) and draw controls (15-6).

The Tigers begin WIAC play on Friday, March. 27 at the College of St. Benedict.
