Colorado College senior
Rabbit Barnes has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Â
Barnes, the first CC male to receive a bid to the Division III indoor championships, qualified in the mile with the ninth-fastest time in the nation at 4:04.95, a school record he set at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., on Feb. 14. The top 20 times in each event are invited to the national meet.
Â
"Rabbit is one of the most decorated track and field athletes in program history;" head coach
Katie Bretscher said. "He is a multiple time conference champion, school record holder and an All-American. One of the few things that he had yet to accomplish was qualifying for indoor nationals and now he is the first CC male athlete to do so."
Â
Barnes will run in the prelims at 2:50 p.m. (ET) on Friday, March 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The finals will be at 4:10 pm (ET) on Saturday, March 14.
