Rabbit Barnes Qualifies for NCAA Indoor Track Championships

Colorado College senior Rabbit Barnes has qualified for the NCAA Division III National Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Barnes, the first CC male to receive a bid to the Division III indoor championships, qualified in the mile with the ninth-fastest time in the nation at 4:04.95, a school record he set at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., on Feb. 14. The top 20 times in each event are invited to the national meet.

"Rabbit is one of the most decorated track and field athletes in program history;" head coach Katie Bretscher said. "He is a multiple time conference champion, school record holder and an All-American.  One of the few things that he had yet to accomplish was qualifying for indoor nationals and now he is the first CC male athlete to do so."

Barnes will run in the prelims at 2:50 p.m. (ET) on Friday, March 13 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. The finals will be at 4:10 pm (ET) on Saturday, March 14.
