The Colorado College men's tennis team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win the final five singles matches and capture a 5-2 victory over LeTourneau University Sunday morning at Lifetime Fitness in Colorado Springs.
The Tigers (9-6, 8-0 SCAC) lost the doubles point for the first time against an SCAC opponent this season.
Nick Anderson and
Sam Lessard won the No. 3 match, 6-1, but
Dominik Kaminski and
Justin Boder fell to Andrew Reiman and Fernando Vazquez, 6-1, at the top spot, while
Lenny Lehmitz and
Sam Dilworth dropped a 6-3 decision to Timothy Black and Zach Farris at No. 2.
The Yellowjackets took a 2-0 lead when Farris defeated Kaminski, 6-0, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles spot. Dilworth cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 6-4, 6-1, triumph over Vazquez at No. 3.
Lehmitz then evened the match at 2-2 with a thrilling come-from-behind 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(8) win over Reiman at No. 2. The Tigers then ran away with the match as
Hugo Vohmann (No 4),
Ross Cockrell (No. 5) and Lessard (No. 6) each won handily in straight sets.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, April 12, against LeTourneau University at Lifetime Fitness, beginning at 8 a.m.
