Ken Landau Earns Top Broadcasting Award For Sixth Time

Colorado College hockey play-by-play announcer Ken Landau was honored with a first-place Award of Excellence for "Best Sports Coverage by an Individual or Team" in a radio major market from the Colorado Broadcasters Association for the year 2025.

Landau, who just completed his 20th season as the "Voice of the Tigers," now has earned first-place honors six times – previously in 2007, '09, '12, '15 and '18 – along with four second-place awards from the CBA. Every Colorado College hockey game is broadcast on KRDO NewsRadio 105.5 and 92.5 FM/1240 AM, which serves as the flagship station of the CC Tiger Sports Network.

"Ken is a legend when we think about his contributions to CC Hockey over the years and we couldn't be prouder of him," CC Vice President and Director of Athletics Lesley Irvine said. "His commitment over the seasons is remarkable as he works tirelessly to bring our games and program to life for the fans. He also has an incredible ability to build relationships with the staff and players that assist in his storytelling and game coverage. Ken is a Tiger through and through and his impact is truly immeasurable."

A 1982 graduate of Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in telecommunications, Landau called the play-by-play for MSU hockey from 1979 through 1985, then again from 1990 through 1997. He also spent three seasons serving in a similar capacity at the University of Michigan.

"It is a great honor to be recognized by my peers in the sports broadcasting industry," Landau said. "I truly have the best broadcasting position in college hockey. My thanks to the CC athletics adminstration, head coach Kris Mayotte, his staff, the players, all the CC Tiger hockey fans and everyone at KRDO for making my job not a job, but a pure pleasure. I cannot wait for the puck to drop in October."

In 1992, Landau earned the Associated Press of Michigan broadcast award for best play-by-play. In 2003, he called College Sports Television's first-ever college hockey game ever for College Sports Television and hosted CSTV's wall-to-wall coverage of the Frozen Four in Buffalo.

"Ken Landau is the most dedicated professional announcer I've ever met," KRDO program director Dan Cochell said. "Having done play-by-play myself on venues like the tennis channel and more, I know the challenges Ken faces each broadcast. Yet he delivers time and time again."
