No. 25 Tigers Down Eagles In La Crosse

The No. 25 Colorado College women's lacrosse team continued its road trip in dominant fashion on Friday afternoon, defeating UW-La Crosse, 15-4, at Veterans Memorial Field.

CC (7-3, 3-0) wasted no time taking control, scoring six goals in the opening quarter and holding the Eagles scoreless for the first 20 minutes of play. Junior Charlotte Iler led the Tigers with four goals, while freshman Elsa Greene added three goals, including a pair in the fourth quarter. Greene now has seven goals in the last two games.

The Tigers built a commanding 10-0 lead midway through the second quarter behind a balanced offensive attack that saw eight different goal scorers find the back of the net. Freshman Beatrix Nace, senior Grace Bean, and junior Oliv Janerico each scored during the second frame to help CC take a 10-1 advantage into halftime.

Freshman Maddie Jenks turned in a strong all-around performance with two goals and two assists, while senior Ella Roe dished out two assists to pace the offense. CC finished with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists.

Defensively, the Tigers controlled possession throughout, winning the ground ball battle, 27-23, and holding La Crosse to just seven shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Cassidy Schnaufer made three saves in the first half to earn the win, while freshman Natalie Bernstein added a career-high four saves over the final 30 minutes.

CC also found success at the draw, with freshman Sofia Niklaus helping the Tigers to a 13-6 advantage, while the defense forced 16 turnovers and added four caused turnovers in the victory.

After carrying a 12-2 lead into the fourth quarter, the Tigers put the finishing touches on the win with three more goals, including two from Greene and a late tally from Iler to cap the scoring.

Colorado College will return to action on Saturday, April 4 at UW-Stout.
