The Colorado College track and field teams will send three student-athletes to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships next week in La Crosse, Wis.
Â
Seniors
Alison Mueller-Hickler and
Allison Barker will compete in the women's competition, while sophomore
Oliver Smeal will represent the men's team at the national meet, May 21-23, at the Veteran's Memorial Field Sports Complex.
Â
Mueller-Hickler will make her second consecutive appearance at the Division III Championships, while Barker and Smeal will compete for the first time.
Â
"It is great for the program to have more first time qualifiers," head coach
Katie Bretscher said. "Ollie has consistently thrown at a higher level this season.
Allison Barker has gotten faster each week, and
Alison Mueller-Hickler has had an outstanding senior year across all three running seasons."Â
Â
Mueller-Hickler earned second-team All-America honors last year with a 10
th-place finish in the 10K. She won her second SCAC 10K title earlier this spring and has the 10th-fastest time in Division III this season at 35:11.76 from the WashU Distance Classic. Mueller-Hickler will run the 10K at the national meet on Thursday, May 21, at 7:30 p.m. (CT).
Â
Barker, meanwhile, ran a personal-best time of 4:29.53 in the 1500 on Wednesday at the Augustana Twilight Qualifier to qualify for the NCAA Championships. She will run the 1500 final on Saturday, May 23, at 1:25 p.m. (CT).
Â
Smeal will compete in the javelin event on Saturday, May 23, at 11 a.m. (CT). He posted the 11
