Tigers Fall to Williams in NCAA Sweet 16

Elsa Greene led CC with three goals

Freshman Elsa Greene scored a team-high three goals for the Colorado College women's lacrosse team Saturday, but the Tigers saw their 2026 season come to a close with a 16-5 loss to Williams College in the Round of 16 at the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Colorado College, who had its 12-game winning streak snapped, finished the campaign with a 16-4 record in the debut season for head coach AJ Johnson.

Sydney Puntus scored just 39 seconds into the contest as Williams led from start to finish. The Ephs held a 5-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to a pair of goals from Reece Willison.

After Ainsley Abel made it 6-0 in the first minute of the second quarter, Greene put the Tigers on the board 1:48 into the frame with her 37th goal of the season. However, Williams scored the next five to take an 11-1 halftime lead.

Greene scored her second of the game midway through the third quarter and her third tally came with 11:27 left in the fourth quarter, the first of three straight Tigers goals, to make it 15-3. Grace Weber then connected on a free-position goal with nine minutes remaining and Charlotte Iler posted her 100th point of the season by scoring her 65th goal of the campaign with 3:29 to play.

Iler, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, became just the fourth player in program history to notch 100 points in a season.

Puntus tied Greene with three goals, while Williams' Franny Donohue led all players with six points on two goals and four assists.

Cassidy Schnaufer closed her stellar career with eight saves and became the second goalie in program history to record at least 100 saves in three different seasons.

"We went out there with a game plan to lay it all out there and that's what we did," Johnson said. "I credit Williams for getting the job done, but I am so proud of how our team battled to get here."

Williams (12-7) held a 24-11 advantage in shots on goal and had 22 ground balls, compared to 17 for the Tigers. Charlotte Cote made six saves for the Ephs.
