Student-Athlete Advisory Committee 2024-25
The Colorado College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a body of student-athlete representatives from each varsity team. Its main purpose is to represent the student-athlete voice in decisions made by the CC Athletic Department. SAAC strives to take action to enhance the student-athlete experience in both the quality of the athletic programs and in the opportunities provided to all student-athletes at CC.Â
Â
A Statement from the Colorado College SAAC
The Colorado College athletics community vehemently supports the pursuit of antiracism and dismantling of white supremacy within and beyond our campus community.Â
Â
We acknowledge that the actions of student-athletes and their teams at times have been harmful, racist or otherwise reprehensible. We do not seek to forget these moments or people, nor change the way they are remembered. We strongly believe that silence on issues of injustice perpetuates inequality and harmful practices, and feel that creating space for and centering the voices of individuals who have experienced oppression and systemic racism must be a priority.
Â
We are committed to joining and supporting BIPOC students within our athletics community and across the CC campus by standing up, speaking up, and demanding change. The CC athletics community, including but not limited to student-athletes, coaches, athletic training staff, and administrators, will be joined by team leaders serving on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), in a commitment to educating ourselves about racist systems, policies, and practices. We intend for this education initiative to enable us to better function as genuine allies with individuals on our campus, across the country, and around the world who have suffered due to these injustices.
Â
We will engage in dialogue within our athletics community and further develop action plans to continue this historic moment into a movement that will reshape our campus and society. The establishment of a Diversity and Inclusion Committee within SAAC will help facilitate this important work, ensuring it is carried out in an intentional and effective manner.Â
Â
As part of this commitment we encourage members of the CC campus community and beyond to connect with us and convey suggestions or any concerns we can address. Questions, comments, or concerns regarding antiracism efforts in the CC Athletics Department can be directed via email to SAAC atÂ
CCSAAC@ColoradoCollege.edu, or to Athletics Department leadership atÂ

Colorado College SAAC Mission Statement
"The Colorado College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will strive to uphold the mission of the National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee while representing the student-athlete and continuing to uphold the academic goals of Colorado College."
NCAA SAAC Mission Statement
"The mission of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to enhance the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare and fostering a positive student-athlete image." Our work as a committee should reflect these goals and objectives outlined by the national representation of our group."
Leader Expectations
The co-presidents, secretary and treasurer should provide leadership during the course of the year for all activities and committee decisions. Each officer must keep proper documentation throughout the year for their respective tasks that will be passed on to future officers. Adequate transition should take place between the incoming and past officers at the end of each year.   Â
Group & Individual Expectations
Each team representative will regularly attend SAAC meetings each month at a time decided by each year's committee. The group will be responsible for creating a calendar of events and possible goals for the year within the first couple of meetings to outline the objectives for the year. If a team representative is a senior, he/she is responsible for finding a replacement and bringing him/her to the regular SAAC meetings during the spring.
Future Objectives
The Colorado College SAAC will aim to positively influence the CC community as well as the Colorado Springs community. In our effort to unite with groups outside of athletics, we will strive to become a recognizable and influential organization. SAAC will continue to be a liaison for student-athletes for their athletic and academic endeavors.
