Jaylin Airington, who played three seasons under Jeff Conarroe at California State University Bakersfield, has joined his former coach’s inaugural staff at Colorado College as a full-time assistant coach.
Â
Airington, who graduated from CSUB in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, helped the ’Runners earn the school’s first appearance in the National Invitational Tournament and become the first No. 8 seed in NIT history to reach the national semifinal.
Â
A College Insider Defensive All-American and first-team all-Western Athletic Conference selection as a senior in 2017, Airington displayed an ability to influence the outcome of a game at both ends of the court. He set the CSUB Division I record with 500 points that season and did so while guarding the opposing team’s top offensive threat.
Â
During the first round of WAC Men’s Basketball Championship, Airington became just the 12th player in program history to amass 1,000 career points, accomplishing the feat in just three seasons.
Â
In 2016, Airington helped the ’Runners win the WAC Championship and earn the school's first appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Â
After completing his career, Airington played three seasons of international basketball in Poland (2017-18), Hungary (2018-19) and Ukraine (2019-20).
Â
In addition to his exploits on the court, Airington has a long-standing history of community service both on and off campus.
Â
A few of his volunteer efforts include the Ronald McDonald House (2014), Toys for Toddler Christmas toy drive (2014), Teen Challenge: Walk to Recovery (2014), Recess with the Runners (2018), Dignity and Adventist Health Toy Drives (2013-2018) and Above All Things Dream Foundation/Youth Foundation (2018-Present).
