Robert DeVane, who spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at the Air Force Academy Preparatory School, is in his second season as a member of the Colorado College staff.
His primary responsibilities include national recruiting, scouting of opponents, on-court instruction, as well as practice and game preparation.
During his tenure at the academy, DeVane helped develop 11 players who currently played varsity basketball at Air Force. He also helped guide the prep school to a 110-51 record over a five-year period, including a 31-3 mark in 2003-04.
His coaching resume also includes stints with the Colorado Heat AAU team as well as the Kunsan AB squad that won a Korean Armed Forces championship.
DeVane is a 1979 graduate of Fayetteville State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education, health and recreation. He went on to receive an associate degree in applied science education and training management from the Community College of the Air Force.
Active in church activities, DeVane is a member of a men’s volunteer group that donates time to paint houses for the elderly and spruce up landscape during the summer months.
He and his wife, Dolores, are the parents of two sons – Daryle, age 23, and Justin, age 20.
