  • Title
    Assistant Coach, Men's Lacrosse

Ira Huff is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Colorado College men’s lacrosse team.

Huff is Seneca, Hawk Clan, and was raised on the Tonawanda Seneca Nation in Western New York State. To his people, the Haudenosaunee, lacrosse is a sacred sport, a medicine game played to uplift spirits, settle disagreements and promote unity amongst all peoples. Huff has been playing lacrosse since before could walk, a tradition adhered to by many in his community, and he brings more than 15 years of lacrosse experience as a coach, player and educator to the CC program.

During the last four years specifically, Huff has worked with hundreds of lacrosse players and coaches in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, instructing them not only on how to be stewards of the game, but stewards of this Earth as well. In the same vein, he shares this wealth of knowledge of the Creator's Game with the Tigers in the hopes that they are successful not only on the playing field, but in life following their playing careers as well.

Huff earned a bachelor’s degree in English and textual studies from Syracuse University and an MFA in creative writing from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, N.M. He is the branch director for the El Pomar Boys & Girls Club of Colorado Springs.
