Wayne Wetherby


Wayne Wetherby, an assistant coach at Colorado College since 2005, has played and coached volleyball for the past 27 years. Since joining the program he has helped the Tigers compile a 313-90 (.776) record while primarily working with the defense. 

Before joining the CC staff, Wetherby coached high school volleyball for 14 years, including 11 11 as a head coach. He guided or helped guide 10 of those teams to the postseason during his tenure, two of which made their first postseason appearance in more than seven years.  

Wetherby also coached club volleyball for 12 years, instructing 14’s through 18’s. All of Wetherby’s club teams finished in the top 10 in the Rocky Mountain Region in their respective age groups, while three of those teams advanced to Junior Nationals. 

Wetherby graduated from Colorado State University in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in social sciences (concentration in criminal justice).

While attending CSU, he competed on the men’s club volleyball team for three years as a defensive specialist and outside hitter.

Wetherby also is an assistant camp director for the CC Summer Volleyball Camps.

In addition to coaching at Colorado College, Wetherby teaches social studies at a local high school.
