Unleashing its biggest offensive explosion of the season, Colorado College kicked off homecoming with a bang on Friday.
The Tigers got goals from five different players, treating its alumni to an impressive 6-0 victory over the University of Southern Mississippi in Conference USA action at Stewart Field.
Kelly LaVoie fueled the attack with a pair of tallies, as CC improved to 10-3-1 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Tiffany Brown,
Alison Kreisler,
Sydney Fetter and
Sarah Wolff also scored in the romp, while
Alexa Bannerman collected a pair of assists.
The goals by juniors Wolff and Kreisler, whose own corner kick found the back of the net, were the first of their collegiate careers. Fetter struck just 16 seconds after Kreisler midway through the second half.
The Tigers, who remain second in the C-USA standings, are 7-0-1 at home in 2008. They out-shot Southern Miss by a 26-4 margin overall, including a 17-1 advantage on goal, and finished with a 14-5 edge in corner kicks. Holly Cox, starting keeper for the Golden Eagles, made nine saves in the first half while allowing the first two goals.
