Lance Jacobs scored a game-high 25 points, but Adams State College used its size and depth to post an 85-72 victory over Colorado College on Friday night in the Bankers Classic in Alamosa, Colo.
Erick Seaman had a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with 11 points as the Division II Grizzlies posted a 46-31 advantage on the glass. Seth Heinbaugh added 15 points and nine rebounds, while Sean Amos added 15 points.
Colorado College trailed 12-0 just 3:19 into the game, but Jacobs hit a pair of three-pointers to spark a 13-5 run to help cut the deficit to just four points with 11:25 remaining in the opening 20 minutes.
The Grizzlies opened up a 13-point lead with 5:03 to go, only to see the Tigers counter with a 12-2 run that pulled CC to within three points at 34-31 with a minute to play in the half.
Adams State scored the first seven points after the break and this time did not squander the advantage. The Tigers reduced their deficit to nine points with 13:24 remaining in the game, but that was as close as they would get.
Jarrell Sweet had 19 points and a career-high nine assists for Colorado College.
Nick Rose had 15 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while
Brady Ohlsen reached double-figure points for the third consecutive game with 10.
Colorado College will face Chadron State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
