Colorado College extended its winning streak to five games on Wednesday night with a 73-61 come-from-behind victory over Johnson & Wales University at Reid Gymnasium.
The Tigers improved to 7-3 overall and completed the non-conference portion of their schedule with a 6-2 record. The last time Colorado College won more than five consecutive games was during the 1989-90 season when it won nine straight contests from Dec. 16 through Jan. 26. The Wildcats dropped to 2-13.
Melanie Auguste led four Tigers in double figures with 18 points and capped her fifth double-double of the season with a game-high 13 rebounds.
Eliese Hansberry chalked up her third consecutive double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
JWU pulled to within two points when Sarah Fitzpatrick drained one of her four three-pointers with 10:33 remaining in the game, but CC answered with a 16-6 run to finally break the game open.
Andrea Austin scored 14 of her game-high 19 points in the first half to help the Wildcats take a 30-28 lead at the break. Colorado College forced 15 turnovers and had a 22-19 advantage in rebounds, but made just eight of 35 shots from the floor during the first 20 minutes.
Fitzpatrick finished with 18 points for the Wildcats.
Colorado College will be idle until Jan. 3 when it resumes Southern Collegiate Conference play with a game at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
