The Colorado College men's soccer team began the season on the road for the first time since 1999, but won its opener for the sixth time in seven years with a 4-1 victory over St. Olaf College on Friday afternoon in Northfield, Minn.
“It was a stupendous opener for us,” said head coach
Horst Richardson. “We had a shaky start, but in the second half we totally dominated.”

Trevor Cobb put the Tigers on the board with an unassisted goal 28:19 into the first half, and then he set up a goal by junior midfielder
Chris Ellis just over 10 minutes into the second half to give CC some breathing room.

Jordan Reese extended the advantage to 3-0 by converting on a penalty kick with 17:54 remaining in the game.
St. Olaf got on the scoreboard with 11:55 to play on a goal by John Zietlow, but sophomore defender
Wil Nelp found the back of the net less than two minutes later to close out the scoring.
Junior goalkeeper
Brian Engle made three saves to earn the victory in his first career start. The Colorado College defense held the Oles to just four shots on goal and a total of nine for the game.
Kevin Friede had five saves for St. Olaf.
The Tigers will face Ripon College on Sunday at 11 a.m. CDT.
