Colorado College hung tough for 30 minutes, but Millsaps College pulled away late in the second half to post a 78-62 victory on Sunday in Jackson, Miss.
The Tigers trailed 53-49 when
Lance Jacobs nailed one of his four three-pointers with 8:06 remaining in the game, but the Majors used a 14-5 run to extend their lead to 13 points and CC was never able to get closer than eight the rest of the way.
Colorado College led 43-40 after Jacobs scored three of his team-high 17 points with 13:37 to play, but Millsaps countered with a 10-0 run during the ensuing 3:04.
The Majors shot .652 in the second half when they scored 22 points off 12 CC turnovers.
Millsaps scored the game's first 10 points and led 19-9 after the opening 9:16. The Tigers countered with a 17-4 run and took a 26-23 lead when
Austin Perkins scored the seventh of his career-high 10 points with 1:53 remaining in the first half.
Brady Ohlsen finished with 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds to register his second double-double of the season and fourth of his career.
Jeremiah Waters reached double figures for the second contest in a row with 11 points.
Blake Martinez led the Majors with 17 points, while Chad Songy had 16 points and six assists.
CC dropped to 2-11 overall and 1-4 in the SCAC. Millsaps improved to 3-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Tigers will be back on the road next weekend when they travel to Centre College and DePauw University on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
