Already assured of a top-four finish in Conference USA and a berth in the league tournament next week, Colorado College will shoot to break its single-game home attendance record this Friday when the Tigers play host to UTEP in their 2009 regular-season finale under the lights at Washburn Field.
Start time is 7 p.m. for the match, which features what has become a heated rivalry between CC and the Miners since they met for the first time in 2006.
Admission is free for the NCAA Division I event. Halftime festivities include a Halloween costume contest.
Winner of the contest will earn a No. 2 seed and receive a bye for first-round action in the C-USA playoffs that begin on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in Dallas, Texas. The third-place Tigers, 11-5-2 overall and 7-2-1 in conference play, lead fourth-place UTEP by one point and trail second-place Memphis by two in the current standings. MU, however, dropped a 2-1 decision to UAB in their regular-season finale on Thursday night.
The existing attendance record, set nearly 20 years ago, is estimated to be approximately 1,000.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early on Friday and also watch the nationally ranked CC volleyball team take on Colorado Christian University at 6 p.m. inside Reid Gymnasium. Admission for that event also is free as the Tiger spikers "Dig Pink" in an effort to raise funds for the Side-Out Foundation and Breast Cancer Awareness.
