In a rematch of last spring's first-round WCHA playoff series, which ended its season on a sour note, Colorado College plays host to the University of Minnesota Duluth in a two-game set at the World Arena this Friday (7:37 p.m. MT) and Saturday (7:07 p.m. MT).
The surprising Tigers, who did not play last weekend, remain undefeated in league play after going 3-0-1 in their first four conference outings for the second consecutive season. They're 4-1-1 overall and ranked 11th and 12th in this week's national polls published on Monday by by USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com/CBS College Sports.
Friday's series opener marks the 162nd meeting between CC and the Bulldogs in a rivalry that started on Jan. 4, 1961. Despite going 0-3-1 in four games against UMD last season, all at home, Colorado College still owns an 81-74-6 advantage in the rivalry.
The teams will meet again this later this season (Jan. 8-9) at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, where the Tigers won (3-0 and 4-0) on back-to-back nights late during the 2007-08 campaign.
