Sophomore forward Becky Luetjen scored 19 points as the Colorado College women's basketball team opened the 2009-10 season with an 86-64 victory over Augustana College on Friday night at CC's Reid Gymnasium.
CC's freshman combined 35 points, with Marissa Gradoz leading the way with 14. Kalli-Anne Kemling finished with 11 points, while Collier Clegg scored all eight of her points in the second half.
The Vikings led 40-37 at the half following an old-fashioned three-point play by freshman guard Lizzie Warnken, but Colorado College allowed only 24 points in the second half.
Kristin Fox led the Vikings (0-2) with 14 points, while Lani Kasten added 12.
Augustana will play its second game of the 2009 Colorado College Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday against Piedmont College.
Colorado College returns to action on Sunday when it plays host to Piedmont at 4 p.m.
