SCAC tourney out of reach for CC

Colorado College saw its last remaining hopes of qualifying for next weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament extinguished with a 75-64 loss at Trinity University on Friday night.
 
The Tigers fell two full games behind Austin College, Millsaps College and Southwestern University in the West Division Standings with just one regular-season game remaining.
 
Colorado College trailed 8-6 after Sweet scored on a short jumper 3:36 into the game, but Trinity ran off 14 consecutive points before Sweet made the Tigers' next bucket nearly five minutes later. TU went on a 12-3 run to take a commanding 34-11 lead.
 
CC shot just .229 from the field in the first half, making just eight of 35 shots. TU made 16 of 27 field goal attempts and built a 43-22 lead after 20 minutes.
 
Trinity led by as many as 31 points in the second half, but Colorado College closed the game with an 18-3 run to cut its final deficit to 11 points.
 
Brady Ohlsen led CC with a game-high 22 points and six rebounds. Jarrell Sweet added 14 points, while Nick Rose had 10.
 
Charles Houston had 15 points and 10 rebounds to pace the hosts.
 
Colorado College dropped to 5-19 overall and 4-10 in the SCAC. Trinity improved to 21-3 overall ad 12-2 in conference play.
 
The Tigers play their final game of the season on Sunday at Southwestern University.
