Colorado College puts its hopes for a home-ice playoff berth on the line again this weekend when CC travels to Grand Forks, N.D., for a pair of WCHA matinee games against the University of North Dakota.
Faceoff at Ralph Engelstad Arena (11,406 seating capacity) is 3:37 p.m. CST Saturday and Sunday as the Tigers play their final regular-season series of the 2008-09 campaign. After this week, all that remains before the playoffs is a single contest at the University of Denver on Saturday, March 7.
UND and Denver currently are tied for first place in the WCHA standings, but the Fighting Sioux have four games left compared to DU's three. Third-place CC, 16-9-8 overall and 12-8-5 in league play, trails the front-runners by four points.
The Tigers, who last weekend recorded their first series sweep since October, are undefeated (3-0-2) during the month of February and have lost just once (4-1-3) in their last eight outings. They currently are one point ahead of fourth-place Wisconsin, three in front of fifth-place Minnesota Duluth and four up on sixth-place St. Cloud State in the battle for a top-five finish.
Both of this week's games at North Dakota will be telecast in that state by the Fighting Sioux Sports Network (FSSN) and aired live throughout Southern Colorado on KXTU The CW 57.
