Riders propel Tigers past Fort Lewis

Ginny Rider dished out a career-high four assists and Kristin Rider scored three times and set up another goal as Colorado College defeated Fort Lewis College, 18-5, on Saturday afternoon at Washburn Field. 

Kristin Rider scored twice as the Tigers jumped out to a 5-1 lead in just under nine minutes. Then after Kelly Nie cut the Skyhawks' deficit to three with 17:23 to play in the first half, CC scored eight consecutive goals during the next 30 minutes to build a commanding 13-2 lead with 17:07 remaining in the game.

Ginny Rider assisted on half of the eight goals, including the final three of the first half by Lindsay Chan, Bailey Terhune and Gioia Garden.

Ashley Perkins tallied a pair of goals during a 3-1 Fort Lewis run that pulled the Skyhawks to within 14-5, but CC scored the last four goals of the game during the final 8:22.

Colorado College got goals from 13 different players and at least one point from 15. Terhune had three goals, Alexa Dougherty scored twice and had one assist, while Grace Maloney set up two goals and scored once.

Valerie Cranmer made four saves while improving to 2-0 in goal for the season. Chelsea Stevens stopped five shots in the first half, while Nic Laros made a pair of saves in relief.

CC improved to 8-1, while Fort Lewis dropped to 0-5.

Colorado College returns to action on March 26 when the Tigers play host to Pacific University.
