Laura Finfrock made 19 saves to help the Adrian College women's lacrosse team upset Colorado College, 15-9, on Saturday morning at CC's Washburn Field.
Finfrock stopped 11 shots during the first half when the Tigers dominated the game statistically. CC had a 22-13 advantage in shots on goal and forced eight turnovers, but trailed 5-4 after 30 minutes.
During the second half, Adrian College took advantage of six yellow cards called on the Tigers and scored six of their 10 goals while up at least one player. The Bulldogs were up two players on a pair of occasions for a total of 3:42 and played with an extra player for 16:32 of the final 30 minutes.
Rachel Johnston and Lindsey Day gave Adrian a 2-0 lad 11:17 into the first half. The Colorado College offense finally got on track when Alexa Dougherty and Gioia Garden scored 3:18 apart to tie the game, and Kristin Rider gave the Tigers their only lead with 6:23 remaining in the first half.
Despite taking a pair of penalties early in the second half, CC trailed by just 8-6 after Grace Maloney scored at the 15:00 minute mark. But the Tigers were called for four penalties during the final 15 minutes and the Bulldogs went on a 7-1 scoring run that included five goals scored while up a player.
Johnston had seven points on six goals and an assist to lead the Bulldogs. Amanda Lambert had three goals and an assist, while Jovelle Ward and Day added three scores.
Kristin Rider paced the Tigers with four scores, while Maloney and Dougherty each found the net twice.
The Tigers return to action on April 4 when CC takes on Regis University in the first of two games in Durango, Colo.
