Tiger comeback falls short at Cabrini

Cabrini College used an 8-0 run during the first half to build a five-goal lead and held off a furious Colorado College comeback in the second half to post a 12-11 victory over the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

Bailey Terhune scored twice as CC jumped out to a 3-0 lead during the opening 3:58, but the Cavaliers took advantage of 20 Tiger turnovers and scored eight consecutive goals during a span of 22:16 to build an 8-3 lead.

Gioia Garden scored three of her goals in the second half and Valerie Cranmer stopped five of the nine shots she faced to spark the Colorado College comeback.

The Tigers pulled to within one goal on two different occasions during the final five minutes, but that was as close as CC would get.

Garden and Ali Zarlengo struck for a pair of goals in a span of 24 seconds to make the score 11-10 with 4:16 to play, but Amanda Alexandrowiz answered just over a minute later to give the Cavaliers a two-goal advantage.

Terhune's fourth goal cut CC's deficit to 12-11 with 1:07 to play, but the Tigers were unable to net the equalizer.

Claire Draudt had a career-high four assists for Colorado College.

The Cavaliers converted on four of 11 free position attempts, while CC was unable to convert on either of its two chances.

The Tigers dropped to 10-5, while Cabrini improved to 10-4.

Colorado College will play host to the Colorado State University club team in the regular-season finale on April 30 at Washburn Field.
