Cold-shooting Tigers fall at Oglethorpe

Colorado College missed 10 of its last 12 shots to end the first half and shot just .377 from the floor for the game while dropping a 76-62 decision to Oglethorpe University on Sunday.

Brady Ohlsen tied the game at 19-19 with two of his game-high 17 points with 7:42 remaining, but the Stormy Petrels took advantage of CC's cold shooting and closed the opening 20 minutes with a 26-7 run and the Tigers never recovered.

CC pulled to within 51-40 on an Ohlsen layup 6:51 into the second half, only to see Oglethorpe answer with a 12-1 run to take its largest lead of the game at 63-41 with 9:15 to go. The Tigers never got closer than 12 points when Jeff Smith knocked down a 3-pointer with 19 seconds remaining.

Ohlsen made nine of 12 field-goal attempts, but his teammates were a combined 14 of 49 (.286) from the floor. Oglethorpe shot .517, making 31 of 60 shots.

Jeremiah Waters finished with nine points for CC, while Nick Rose and Jarrell Sweet added seven apiece.

Alex Richey and Joe Kennedy led a balanced Oglethorpe attack with 14 points apiece, while Wade Weldon and Davis Allison added 13 and 12, respectively.

The Tigers slipped to 10-7 overall and 5-4 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Stormy Petrels improved to 11-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Colorado College plays host to Centre College and DePauw University next Friday and Saturday, respectively.
