Racking up more than 6,000 miles on its first road trip of the season, Colorado College is off to Fairbanks this week to participate in the televised Brice Alaska Goal Rush Tournament.
The Tigers take on fellow WCHA member University of Anchorage at 5:05 p.m. (AT) on Friday, in what is officially a non-conference encounter, then meet tourney host University of Alaska (Fairbanks) of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in a 7:05 p.m contest on Saturday.
Both games on the Olympic-size sheet at the Carlson Center are scheduled for telecast and will air live throughout Southern Colorado. Friday's opener is being picked up by
NBC News First Now (Comcast channel 9 in Colorado Springs, channel 247 in Pueblo, as well as 5-2 on
DirecTV), starting at 7 p.m. MT. Saturday's contest against the Nanooks will appear on
The CW (Comcast channel 7 in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, along with 57 on
DirecTV and
Dish), starting at 9 p.m. MT.
CC owns a 1-0-1 record after opening the season with a 2-1 victory and 2-2 tie against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute last weekend at the World Arena. Head coaches in the WCHA and media personnel covering its teams have picked the No. 18-ranked (
USCHO.com) Tigers to finish sixth and seventh, respectively, in the league standings this campaign.
Alaska Anchorage also is off to a 1-0-1 start after tying North Dakota (5-5) and defeating Air Force (3-2) at its own Kendall Hockey Classic at Sullivan Arena last week. Alaska, which also beat AFA (5-2) after losing to the Fighting Sioux (3-1) in Anchorage, is 1-1. The Nanooks are ranked No. 14 in both national polls.
