View complete press release »

Resuming their long-standing rivalry and annual battle for the Gold Pan, Colorado College and the University of Denver tangle for the first time this season in a two-game Western Collegiate Hockey Association series on the home ice of each team.

The Tigers and Pioneers open the action on Friday with a 7:37 p.m. (MT) showdown at DU's Magness Arena, then complete the weekend with Saturday's 7:07 p.m. rematch at the World Arena.

Both games are expected to be sellouts. Friday's will be televised live regionally by FSN Rocky Mountain.

CC is 3-4-1 overall and 1-3 in league play this season after losing twice, 4-1 and 9-4 at home to the University of Minnesota last weekend.

Denver, 3-3-2 overall, is 2-1-1 in WCHA play after splitting with the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D., last week. DU bounced back from a 4-3 loss to the Fighting Sioux in Friday's series opener to post a 3-0 victory at Englestad Arena on Saturday.

Colorado College heads into the weekend with a five-game (2-0-3) undefeated streak against the Pioneers at Magness Arena after tying (4-4) and winning (2-1) there last season. The Tigers are 14-6-4 all-time vs. Denver at that venue, as well as 16-8-3 in 27 previous showdowns at the CSWA.
