View complete weekly press release »

Hoping to move up from ninth place in the WCHA, Colorado College opens a four-game road stretch this weekend when the Tigers meet Michigan Technological University on back-to-back nights at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena in Houghton, Mich.

Faceoff is 7:07 p.m. (ET) Friday and Saturday.

CC, 6-7-1 overall and 3-5 in league play after splitting a pair of home-ice decisions with the University of Alaska Anchorage last week, trails sixth-place University of Wisconsin by only two points and has two conference games in hand with six of the top eight teams in the standings, including the Badgers.

Michigan Tech, which was idle last weekend, is 3-6-2 overall and 1-6-1 in the WCHA. The Huskies, currently in the league cellar, last played on Nov. 19 and 20 when they were swept (6-4, 4-1) at home by the University of Minnesota.

Friday's series opener marks the 173rd all-time meeting between the teams in a rivalry that started on Jan. 17, 1947.

Colorado College owns a 89-71-12 advantage in the series after sweeping MTU, 4-1 and 8-5, early last season at the World Arena. CC is undefeated (5-0-1) in the last six encounters dating back to the 2007-08 campaign. The Tigers, who tied (2-2) and won (4-1) during their last trip to Houghton in early February 2009, are 17-3-8 (.750) against Tech at MacInnes Arena since 1993-94.

NOTE: After making its worldwide premiere last Friday, "Tiger Pride – Eight Decades of CC Hockey" will air again on the NHL Network at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday, Dec. 1, 7 p.m. ET Tuesday, Dec. 7, and noon ET Saturday, Dec. 11. The Rival Films production, narrated by Mike "Doc" Emrick, traces the program's history via rare footage, photographs and interviews with key individuals involved with Tiger Hockey from the late 1930s to the present.
