Kalli Kemling celebrated her first start of the season by scoring a career-high 22 points, but Colorado College dropped a 61-54 decision at Hendrix College in its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Friday night.
Kemling made all four of her three-point attempts and seven of nine shots from the floor.
After Becky Luetjen gave the Tigers a 51-50 lead with 3:35 to go, CC was whistled for eight fouls and committed five turnovers while managing only two shots from the floor.
Jamie Tate's bucket with 3:05 remaining put the Warriors ahead for good, and Hendrix put the game away by scoring seven of its final nine points from the charity stripe.
CC took a 45-43 lead when Sydney Leichliter knocked down a short jump shot with 10:14 to play, but had six turnovers, four fouls and only three missed shots before Luetjen scored with five minutes left in the game.
Tate led the Warriors with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Anna Roane scored 12 points, while Ashley-Pauley added 11 points and seven assists.
Hendrix capitalized on 35 Colorado College fouls by sinking 26 of 36 free throws. The Warriors made only 16 of 49 field-goal attempts. CC went 9-for-14 from the free-throw line, but made up the difference by converting on seven of 19 three-point attempts.
Despite fouling out, Luetjen finished with 12 points and three assists for the Tigers.
Colorado College (1-5, 0-1 SCAC) returns to action on Sunday at Millsaps College.
