Colorado College closed out 2010 on a high note by maintaining its share of first place in the Western Division of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with a 69-54 victory over Trinity University on Friday night.
Nick Rose and Ryan Milne poured in 20 points apiece as CC improved to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Rose added a career-high eight assists and seven rebounds while eclipsing the 20-point mark for the fifth time. Milne reached 20 points for the second time.
Colorado College built double-digit leads four times during the first half, only to see TU battle back to within 30-24 after 20 minutes.
CC finally got some separation midway through the second half on the strength of a 17-5 run that gave Colorado College a 59-40 lead with 8:15 remaining in the game. Trinity answered with nine consecutive points, but Ian Rewoldt's jumper in the lane put the home team ahead by 12 and TU never got to within single digits the rest of the way.
Brady Ohlsen grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and added nine points.
Luke Caldarera led Trinity (3-7 overall, 0-2 SCAC) with 10 points.
Colorado College plays host to Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon.
