Collier Clegg and Becky Luetjen combined for 56 points, including 12 in overtime, to lead Colorado College to a crucial 86-79 victory over Southwestern University on Friday night.
The Tigers improved to 12-10 overall and 6-7 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference, one half game ahead of the Pirates in the battle for the final playoff spot in the Western Division.
Luetjen tied the game with on a driving layup with 1.8 seconds remaining in regulation, and then scored seven points in overtime. She gave CC a 79-76 lead with 1:58 remaining in the extra period by making four consecutive free throws, then Emily Wattman-Turner buried a three-pointer to put the Tigers up 82-76.
Clegg poured in a career high 30 points, making six of 13 shots from behind the arc.
Luetjen posted her eighth double-double of the year with 26 points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Wattman-Turner finished with 12 points, while Alyssa Aldaz dished out seven assists.
Shea Seagraves paced Southwestern with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Jessica Herbst knocked down five 3-point baskets and finished with 20 points.
CC had a 69-43 advantage on the boards, but let the Pirates hang around by committing 22 turnovers.
Colorado College plays host to Trinity University on Saturday.
