Colorado College managed only 13 points during the first half and dropped a 65-44 decision at Birmingham-Southern College on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers made only four of 21 shots from the floor and committed 19 turnovers during the opening 20 minutes as the Panthers raced to a 36-13 lead.
Despite falling behind by a 9-0 count 4:03 into the game, CC trailed only 12-5 after Emily Wattman-Turner hit from behind the arc just over a minute later.
But after Alyssa Aldaz pulled the Tigers to within 14-8 with 11:27 remaining in the first half, BSC scored 15 consecutive points before Becky Luetjen made a pair of free throws to make the score 29-10 with 4:20 to play.
Colorado College outscored the Panthers 23-14 during the first 11:08 of the second half and cut its deficit to 50-36 when Hannah Hoopingarner knocked down the first of her two three-pointers, but BSC used an 8-1 run during the ensuing 2:45 to re-establish control.
Lauren Perks led the Panthers with a game-high 12 points, while Ashton Spurgin and Kristian Moody added 10 apiece. Spurgin also had team highs of six rebounds and three steals.
Hoopingarner led the Tigers with 10 points. Alyssa Aldaz had nine points and three steals, while Luetjen added seven points and five rebounds. Marissa Gradoz grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.
CC slipped to 6-10 overall and 3-5 in the SCAC. Birmingham-Southern improved to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference.
Colorado College plays at home for the first time since defeating Southwestern University on Jan. 2 when the Tigers play host to Oglethorpe University on Friday night.
