Rose nets 29 as Tigers prevail at Dallas

Nick Rose scored 29 points to help Colorado College extend its winning streak to four games with a 68-59 non-conference victory at the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon at the Maher Athletic Center.

The Tigers improved to 9-5 overall and 5-1 on the road despite having to play twice in less than 24 hours. CC swept the home-and-home series against the Crusaders, who will join the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference next year.

Unlike the contest on Nov. 26 when Colorado College cruised to an 82-53 victory, the Tigers were unable to put Dallas away despite building a 22-point lead when Colin Madden connected from behind the arc with 3:22 remaining in the first half.

Ross Davidson scored seven of his game-high 17 points as UD scored the final 10 points of the half to pull to within 41-29 after 20 minutes, then the Crusaders put up the first five points of the second frame to cut CC's advantage to 41-34.

Rose and Ryan Milne scored on consecutive possessions to return the lead to double digits 2:02 later, and the Tigers weren't seriously threatened until Davidson knocked down a three pointer with 6:36 to go to pull UD to within 52-45.

Milne had four points during a 7-2 run that extended CC's advantage to 59-47 with 4:29 remaining and the Crusaders didn't get to within single digits until Noah Pettit closed out the scoring with a three-point shot with 29 seconds to play.

Brady Ohlsen recorded his second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Milne finished with seven points and four assists.

Braeton Hightower made three of six shots from behind the arc and finished with 13 points. Davidson completed his double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds.

Colorado College returns to conference play with games at Rhodes College and Birmingham-Southern College next Friday and Sunday, respectively.
