Colorado College officially opens its 2011-12 regular-season schedule this week when CC plays host to Bemidji State University in a two-game WCHA series at the World Arena.

Faceoff is 7:37 p.m. (MT) Friday and 7:07 pm Saturday as the Beavers visit Colorado Springs for the first time as full members of the WCHA.

The Tigers, who won a pair of exhibition games against Canada's McGill University (3-2) and the United States Under-18 Team (5-0) earlier this month, finished 23-19-3 overall and 13-13-2 in league play last season. They reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament by virtue of an 8-4 victory over defending national champion Boston College in first-round action at the West Regional.

Bemidji State, which upset Nebraska Omaha in the opening round of the WCHA playoffs last spring after finishing 10th in the standings, ended up 15-18-5 overall in 2010-11. The Beavers already are 1-1 this season after earning a non-conference split at then No. 1-ranked (USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine) Miami University last week. They defeated the RedHawks, 5-3, in Friday's series opener before dropping a 3-2 decision the next night.

Colorado College owns a slim 3-2-1 advantage in six all-time games against BSU after skating to a 5-5 tie and suffering a 2-1 defeat last February at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minn.

CC is No. 3 nationally in Inside College Hockey's preseason Power Rankings and earlier was tabbed No. 4 by the College Hockey News. The Tigers are No. 7 and 8, respectively, in this week's polls published on Monday by USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine.
