Box Score Despite 20-point performances by junior Hannah Hoopingarner and senior
Becky Luetjen, the Colorado College women's basketball team was unable to pull out the victory, falling to Linfield College, 69-60, Saturday evening in McMinnville, Ore.
Hoopingarner led the Tigers with a 70 percent shooting from the field and also shot 66.7 percent from behind the arc en route to her season-high 20 points.
Luetjen went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line and shot 50 percent on the floor, which included a 75 percent shooting from long range to earn her 20 points to tie for the team-high. Luetjen also led the team with nine rebounds and four assists.
Midway through the first half with Colorado College behind 13-12, senior
Jordy Stephenson hit a jumper to help ignite an 11-4 run. The Run was capped with a jumper by Hoopingarner with 3:00 left in the half to take the Tigers' largest lead of the game at 23-17.
Linfield answered back with an 8-0 run and closed out the half with a two-point lead, going into halftime ahead, 25-23.
The Wildcats carried their run into the second half as it opened the half with a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 35-23 with 17:12 left in the game.
Down 50-40, CC went on a 9-2 run on three field goals from long range to cut Linfield's lead to three with 5:05 remaining in the game, but the Wildcats answered back on a three pointer of their own by Brynna Fuller. Linfield never looked back after that, beating the Tigers, 69-60.
Colorado College dropped to 4-5 on the season, while Linfield improved to 6-4 on the season.
The Wildcats were led by Gretchen Owens with 29 points, Kaely Maltman with 16 points and a team-high 11 rebounds and Katelyn Henson with 12 points.
The Tigers will return home as they host Johnson and Wales University in a midweek game at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 in Reid Gymnasium.
