Lesnansky, Milne power Tigers past JWU

Box Score Freshman forward Chris Lesnansky scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half, but the Tigers needed seven straight from sophomore guard Ryan Milne during the final 2:08 to escape with a 73-70 victory over Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday night.

After Corey Puckett gave JWU a 65-64 lead with 3:29 remaining, Milne took the game into his own hands. His jumper put CC ahead with 2:08 to play, and after Eric Gardzina tied the score for the 11th time by making one of two free throws, Milne converted on an old fashioned three-point play and then sank a pair of free throws with 36 seconds to play.

The Wildcats cut the lead to one point on four consecutive free throws by Puckett, but Ian Rewoldt made a pair charity tosses and Jake Campbell's three-point shot at the buzzer was off the mark.

Milne finished with 19 points and dished out a game-high seven assists. Senior forward Jeremiah Waters added 17 points, 12 of which came on shots from behind the three-point line during the second half.

Puckett went 5-for-5 from behind the arc en route to a team high 19 points. Campbell finished 16 points, while Chris O'Neal and Gardzina added 10 apiece.

Johnson & Wales jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Rewoldt put the Tigers on the board 5:46 into the game. CC took its first lead when

Waters made a pair of free throws with 6:39 remaining in the first half.

The Wildcats enjoyed a 32-29 edge on the glass, but the Tigers forced 21 turnovers while committing only 12.

Colorado College, which evened its record at 3-3, travels to Wartburg College on Saturday.
