Colorado College shoots to clinch a home-ice berth for the opening round of the WCHA playoffs when the Tigers usher out the 2010-11 regular season this weekend with a two game series at the University of Wisconsin.
Faceoff at the Kohl Center (15,237 seating capacity) in Madison, Wis., is 7:07 p.m. CT Friday and Saturday.
CC needs two points, with a victory or a pair of ties, to earn the right to host a best-of-three post-season series starting March 11.
While Friday's contest will air throughout the state of Wisconsin on
Wisconsin Public Television (WPT), Saturday's will be telecast live regionally by
Fox Sports Wisconsin and available via satellite on
DirecTV channel 669, as well as
Comcast channel 172, with the appropriate sports packages.
FSN Rocky Mountain will show a taped-delay replay, starting at 11 p.m. MT that night.
The 17th-ranked Tigers, 18-15-3 overall, currently occupy sixth place in the WCHA standings – the last available spot for hosting a best-of-three playoff series a week later – with a 12-12-2 record in league play. They are one point ahead of seventh-place Wisconsin and two ahead of eighth-place St. Cloud State, which plays at the University of Denver this weekend.
The Badgers, who need to sweep Colorado College in order to be seeded ahead of CC for the playoffs, are 19-13-4 overall and 11-12-3 in league play after losing twice (4-2, 7-3) at SCSU last weekend. UW, currently ranked No. 18 nationally, is winless (0-5-1) in its last six outings and has defeated the Tigers only twice in the last 12 encounters between the teams dating back to the 2006-07 season.
