Cold shooting in the first half haunts Tigers

Box Score Colorado College finished 2012 on a sour note as it shot a game-low 11.1 field-goal percentage in the first half during a 60-36 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin, Sunday afternoon in Reid Arena.

The Tigers made only two field goals out of their 18 attempts and a free throw through the entire first half to go behind, 36-6, at intermission.

The Falcons (7-5) began the game building a 16-0 lead through the first 10 minutes, before CC scored its first points of the half from a made free throw by freshman Katie Wirth at the 10:13 mark.

Despite the hole the Tigers were in, CC came out strong in the second half as freshman Danielle Davis hit a layup eight seconds into the half to ignite a 25-6 run that was capped with a jumper by freshman Katie Waters to pull within 11 points with 6:29 left in the game.

CC shot a 50.0 percent from the floor on 14-of-28 shooting in the second half, but was unable to overcome its first half deficit as Concordia-Wisconsin shot a 41.4 field-goal percentage during the win.

Sophomore Courtney Tyus led the team with 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Waters added seven points for the Tigers' offense, while Davis contributed with eight rebounds on defense.

Camille Parsons and Katie Luethe led the Falcons with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Colorado College (2-10) returns to the road as it takes on Southwestern University to begin the New Year in conference play on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. in Georgetown, Texas.
