Box Score Despite 19-point performances by junior forward

Becky Luetjen, Colorado College fell to Southwestern University, 80-79, at the buzzer on Friday night in Georgetown, Texas.
The Tigers trailed, 78-75, with 70 seconds remaining when Gunkel hit a jumper to pull CC to within a point. Then, with just five ticks left, she sank a pair of free throws to give Colorado College a 79-78 lead.
However, SU's Chelsea Leeder raced the length of the court and hit a jumper with less than a second remaining to give the Pirates the victory.
Gunkel's 19 points set a career high, while Luetjen's 19 points and team-high 12 rebounds marked her 11th double-double of the season.

Courtney Tyus scored the first basket of the game to help the Tigers go on a 6-0 run, 15 seconds into the first half. Junior

Jordy Stephenson each scored a basket during the run to help CC jump out to an early lead.
After a foul by the Tigers, Anna Fareed hit two free throws to score the first points for the Pirates at the 18:11 mark, which helped begin a 13-2 run for Southwestern and take the lead. The Pirates hit three 3-pointers during the run to take a 13-8 lead with 12:14 remaining in the half.
CC retook the lead with 9:40 left in the half when Luetjen hit a jumper and was fouled on the shot. Luetjen made the extra point to give the Tigers a 17-16 edge.
CC held onto its lead until the 4:22 mark when Fareed hit a jumper to tie the game at 25-25. With Fareed's jumper, Southwestern closed out the half on a 12-6 run and went into intermission with a 37-31 lead over the Tigers.
Stephenson struck first with a jumper 23 seconds into the second half to ignite a 15-6 run for Colorado College to retake the lead. Luetjen finished the run with a pair of made free throws with 15 minutes left on the clock to give the Tigers a 46-43 edge over the Pirates.
CC held its largest lead of the game at 69-61 with 5:46 remaining in the game, but Southwestern answered with an 11-2 run to take a 72-71 lead with 3:32 left on the clock. The teams traded points over the remaining minutes until the Pirates hit a last second shot with a jumper by Leeder.
Tyus earned her first double-double of her career with 10 points and a career-high 10 assists. Gradoz narrowly missed a double-double of her own with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Pirates were led by Fareed and Leeder with 18 and 17 points, respectively. Annie Borne added 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Jordan Owens added 14 points to be the fourth player to score in double figures for Southwestern.
Colorado College fell to 12-11 on the season and 8-6 the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Southwestern improved to 11-11 on the season and 8-5 in conference play.
With the victory, SU moved a half-game ahead of CC at the top of the West Division standings.
The Tigers visit Trinity University on Sunday at 1 p.m.
