Junior goalkeeper Abby Fink made 16 saves, including 10 in the second half, as Colorado College began its 2012 campaign with a 9-6 victory over Division II Regis University on Tuesday night at Washburn Field.

Junior midfielder Anna Crosby led the Tigers with three goals, while senior midfielder Kelsey Morell recorded a goal and an assist.

After the Rangers tied the game at 4-4 on a goal by Kelsey O'Connor just 26 seconds in the second half, CC struck for three consecutive goals. Senior attacker Leslie Jacoby put the Tigers ahead to stay, and freshman midfielder Dylan Voneiff scored what proved to be the game winner with 19:34 remaining.

Morgan Taylor and Margaret Nahrup scored 4:19 apart to pull Regis to within a goal, but after coming from behind to knot the score on three previous occasions, the Rangers could not get another equalizer.

Crosby doubled the Colorado College lead 22 seconds later and Morell added an insurance goal with 3:43 to play.

Freshman goalie Gianna Lombardi stopped nine shots for Regis.

The Tigers used goals by Crosby and freshman midfielder Leigh Nicholl to take a 2-0 lead slightly more than 14 minutes into the game, but the Rangers countered with strikes from Melissa Hastie and Erin Dybus to tie the game a little less than five minutes later.

After Crosby and Taylor traded goals, freshman attacker Madeline Pitkin's first collegiate goal gave CC a 5-4 lead after 30 minutes.

Senior midfielder Grace Maloney paced the Tigers with four ground balls and four draw controls. Senior midfielder Bailey Terhune and senior attacker Leslie Jacoby each caused a pair of turnovers.

Hastie recorded a game-high six draw controls and three ground balls for the Rangers, who slipped to 1-1 on the season.

Colorado College (1-0) travels to Jackson, Miss., on Saturday for its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener at Millsaps College.
